In my portraits, I am most interested in capturing the quality of light as it illuminates from without and as it shines from within the soul and spirit of each child and adult. The finished portraits are just under life size, and are done from photographs taken in natural light, which is the most beautiful possible source of illumination and color as it spills across the face of the subject.  I photograph the subject in numerous indoor, windowed settings, and the work is completed in my studio.  A choice of oil paints or soft pastels and pencils are used to create luminosity and fine detail, as I seek to capture the essence and beauty and inner glow of the subject.  For further details on this process, and to inquire about commissioning a portrait, please contact me.
